Transitional First Grade at ECLC
“School readiness is the ability for a child to cope within the school environment, without undue stress, in order to sustain and grow in that environment.”
Using the insight from the GDO-R, along with information from the classroom teacher and parent, the most appropriate placement for the child is determined. The assessment assists parents and teachers in understanding characteristics of a child’s behavior in relation to typical growth patterns based on sequential, normative stages of development. We take into consideration the social, emotional, physical and intellectual development of the child when assisting parents in making the best grade placement decision. A child will not be placed in T1 without parent consent.
Many students have completed the program in its 28 years and surrounding school districts have called and visited to find out about our program. A significant number of children who have been in the program are children or grandchildren of educators. I believe that this speaks for itself! We know how valuable maturity is when students are faced with more rigorous academics and tough social situations….not just when they move from kindergarten to first grade, but as they move on to middle school, high school and college! Thank you to Sulphur Springs I.S.D. for continuing to support this great program!
