On a Wednesday CAT walk day, we ask teachers to:
- Spend 15 minutes in at least 2 different classrooms
- Collect data on best practices which are being utilized in the classroom and then
- be sure to leave an encouraging note for the teacher before they go.
Initially, teachers were a bit skeptical about having colleagues coming in to observe them and collect data. But, through the process, they have learned that this is not a “gotcha,” but rather a “way to go!!!” I hear comments all of the time from teachers who LOVE going in and getting new and fresh ideas from others on campus. No need to travel far, we’ve got it going on right here at SSMS! CAT walks have been a very positive and enlightening experience at SSMS. I’m sure they will be for your campus too!
