Miss Teer’s and Ms. Tanton’s First Grade classes are providing their students with hands-on experiences as they study their Science unit –‘Investigating Plants’. During their unit, students are expected to identify and compare the parts of plants. Miss Teer and Ms. Tanton assisted their students in planting vegetable plants and through close daily observations, the students have been able to see the vegetables grow and develop. |
Students take turns daily watering and measuring the plants. Students discuss with each other how the plants have grown or not have grown so much. They are excited to see what plant will be the tallest and if their predictions are right or not!! Once in the classroom, students record their measurements and observations on a chart to have a log of each plant’s growth and change throughout the experiment.

All Lamar students are awesome and have many talents. Students have been involved in many learning activities throughout the year as the dedicated staff strive to help each child experience success daily. Our parents, volunteers and community helpers give of their time to help students be successful. Students look forward to award assemblies, science experiments, PTO Programs, special assemblies and classroom instruction. First grader, Lindsey Hayes is destined for greatness as an author. While most students were enjoying their Thanksgiving break from school, Lindsay was writing a 41 page, 6 chapter book. With the prompting of our librarian, Mrs. Wyly, Lindsay brought in her story. Mrs. Gibson, our district librarian, got on board, and helped provide a way to get her story published. Her book is currently on display in the Lamar Library. If you have a chance drop by and read her wonderful book and see all the great work posted around our school of all our students.
